Good news! Our blog has been nominated for the best educational resource devoted to academic writing of 2013.
When it comes to writing research papers, there are a few things that you need to make sure that you know to write an effective piece. A research paper is one where you will come up with a research question about a topic and then work to answer it. You will then present your results. Here are some guidelines to follow.
One of the first things that you will have to do is come up with a topic to write your paper on. You want to make sure that you find a topic that is on a subject that you learned in class. You should also choose something interesting or something that you want to learn more about. Has there been a topic or a subject that you talked about in class that you wouldn’t mind knowing more about?
After reading information on your topic, you will want to start asking yourself a question that your paper will work to answer. What would you like to know about the information that you are reading about? Are there any things that you want to know about the topic that you are writing about? This is the research question that you want to ask and write your paper about.
Conducting research is the main part of the paper. It is what your entire paper is based on. You will want to read sources to get information to prove your statements. You should paraphrase the source and then cite it by giving credit to the writer. When you cite something, you will give your reader information on where you got the information to make sure that they get recognition.
When citing a source, you need to make sure that you find all of the important information about the book, journal, or article so that someone else can find it. There may be a specific way your teacher wants the information presented, so you will want to find that out first.
You will always need to look over your work to make sure that it is error free. You can use the word processor to get some information but the rest will take you reading through it a few times to make sure it is correct. You will need to make sure that it is written with correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
